Dramatic Matilde Poulat Mexican Sterling Bracelet MATL
This dramatic and stylized Mexican sterling and jade link bracelet was designed by renowned Mexican silver artist Matilde Poulat. She was a contemporary of Spratling, Castillo and Antonio and opened her shop in 1934. The piece bears the older MATL mark as seen in the photos. It measures 7 ½” long and is 1 7/8” wide at its widest and narrows down to 1 ¼” at the catch. The carved jade face is bezel set. It is hallmarked on the back MATL 0.900. Under close inspection, there appears to be some surface scratching and a number of very minor dings that give it an artistic hand made hammered quality. Even with its minor imperfections it is a truly wonderful example of early Mexican designer jewelry.
